Dr. Shirley Raines, the first woman president of the University of Memphis, served for 12 years in the role. Now, as president emeritus, she is a speaker, consultant and author. Growing up on a small cotton farm in West Tennessee, her career journey went from preschool teacher to the first woman president of the University of Memphis.
Shirley uses humor, examples, insights, challenges and concrete strategies to inspire and inform audiences from the podium, the classroom and the boardroom. Described as "powerful, prepared and personable," her two focus areas are leadership development and the value of education in society.
Based on her wealth of experiences, Dr. Raines is the consummate energizer of leaders and their teams.
